Website Update
Developing our website has meant that we have now made some clear changes to the layout and the appearance of it. We decided to change our colour scheme to the colours: grey, orange, white and black. This gave our website a professional look with an added touch of some colour to make it more visually appealing to the audience. We also incorporated these colours into the layout of our DigiPac so the continuity would be consistent and it would also add to the overall presentation of our artist. This also meant the consistency of our writing style must be the same throughout, however we felt using just one style of font made it boring to an audience and less appealing. To prevent this we decided to use one font for titles, one font for key information and another for smaller yet necessary details. From looking at other websites we found that this is a common method used by artists of similar genres in their websites.
From looking at other websites we also realised that a simplistic approach to the website design is most effective for artists of this genre. We used simplistic and straight forwards ways to display the information of our artist in a way that would make the artist both appealing and interesting to perhaps potential new fans.
The photography we took to use for our website was all done with the hope of making our artist seem intriguing but also down to earth with the aim of keeping away from the usual over the stop photos of artists of the pop genre. Most of our photography are simple photos of Paddy playing and singing his guitar highlighting the fact he is a musician and is purely about his music. Whilst taking these photos and looking back at them we realised that editing them would help give a better look. When playing about with ways to display these photos on our website we thought a simplistic yet effective way to do so would be to put on the effect of black and white. When looking at other websites, such as that of the band Daughter, we saw that the theme of black and white, although simple, made a very visually appealing site. We therefore decided to make our photos black and white in the hope of giving a special touch to our photos rather than simple and straight forward shots that have not been edited.
The information given in our website allows the viewers to find any key information they may need about the artist. It gives information on upcoming events and also allows access to the old and newest music produced by Paddy. It also gives direct access to social networking sites of Paddy to allow fans to keep in touch, receive updates, and view any direct messages and photos posted by Paddy himself.

DigiPak Development
Our digipak has developed and we are now in the final stages of development. The front cover for the digipak has been completed alongside the 2 inner panels. We are now just waiting for the text to be added to the back of the CD. This has taken longer because of issues regarding the colours and fonts used but it has been resolved and for this reason digipak development should be completed by the end of today.

Above these are the technical elements of how our digipak will be constructed. You can see below an example of what a digipak in this design will look like upon completion. This is simply to give a rough idea of what the final product could look like.
Our final front cover for our digipak can be seen below. We chose this format because of its neutral and plain colours and its simply approach. We like the font as it clearly states the digipak title and artist without being too over the top. Overall, we feel this digipak helps to capture some of the persona we are trying to create in our artist.
While making use of photoshop, we also employed a photo editor on Maria's iPad to assist in some more minute editing. This app was called Fotor and allowed us to add some interesting effects to the images.
For the back of our CD, I simply cropped a small portion of the pattern from the front cover. I then had to darken it down in order for the white text to be clearly visible. For the spine of the CD I simply blended the 2 covers intersection. This is then complete with simply text. The text still has to be added to the back cover.
The 2 inside panels will use the following images. The CD tray has been laid out with the CD picture edited in.

Changes Made / Diary Enter - Day 5
Due to the feedback from the target audience, about the last filming clips we decided that we needed to change our idea slightly because things were gettting to complicated, and the message which we wanted to protary wasn't clear enough.
Therefore, we decided we simple would have first half of the music video with all the essentially 'happy memories' in rewind and then have the second half of the video the young girl alone, going back to these places where the happy memories where but alone this time.
This invovled filming a few more memories scene with the family, and then filming the young girl in these places again, but on her own.
This however, lead to a complication because the mother character in our music video was unable to continue acting for us and therefore lead us having to re-film all our work again, because we couldn't use the memory clips which this mother character had been in. This was a major drawback for us, but we got on task and got all the filming re-done within the next weekend.

Diary Enter - Filming Day 4
Our fourth day filming, was the home domestic scene in the house. It involved actors - Aoife and her Sister, and then the parents (Niamh & Chris) . We filmed on Tuesday 25th March after school.
We filmed after school, in the house were we filmed Chris and Niamh fighting while it showed younger Aoife watching them getting upset. We then filmed Aoife older sister, coming in and comforting her and then taking her out of the house to go to the park. We did this fighting scene from serval different angles and in different locations over the house to highlight the fact that this fighting between the parents happened on more than one location.

In class on wednesday, we looked at the footage we decide that we didn't really like the filming. We thought that the acting wasn't realistic and then we went back to our target audience, they said that there wasn't enough of an obvious age different between Aoife the sister and then the Mother Niamh - This made the narrative unclear, as the target audience said they were unsure of who was in what position within the home.
Next Step:
Our Next Step, is to alter our narrative in order to make the storyline clear to the target audience. To do this we held a focus group. In this group meeting, it was decided to take Aoife out of the storyline and just use Anna, eliminating the confusion between the unclear age differences. We therefore have to film once again, the plan for this will be in the next blog post.
Editing Development
The overview Editing Development took us serval weeks of on-going week to complete, and involved a lot of group discussions about what should be done and how should be done. The development of editing involved lots of mainplulation invovling triming, croping and stabliziing in order to make the film work extactly how we wanted it.
Our basic idea, was to have all the happy memory scenes at the beginning of the music video which would represent the past and the better times. The second half of the music video was then ameant to represent what things are like now, with domestic scences of the parents fighting and then showing the older sister take younger sister away from alll the fighting and to the park.
Once we had began filming, the happy memory scenes worked really well and we used a filter of sephia over the top of the clip and adjusted it to make it enhance how this was the past times. Between each memory we used a cross dissovle transition, we tried fade to black but felt it took aware from the video.
After the memory scenes had been filmed, the next scene we filmed was the domestic house scene with the parents fighting. When looking back on these clips we decided that the acting wasn't realistic enough and the age gap between the older sister and mother wasn't event enough. This therefore made us go back to are target audience to get feedback, they stated that it was too complex and the narrative wasn't clear. We therefore removed these clips and altered our storyline.
We deicded to remove the domestic scenes, and simply use the happy memories for the first half of the video however play them in rewind. This was a feature of final cut pro which we used that allowed us to select a clip and then to have it play in reverse. Then for the second half of the video we had the young girl shown in the hapy family memories clip, back in these same places but on her own.
The begining and end of the film uses fad to black to start and end the music video. Throughout the music video there are mostly cross dissolves used. In the scenes of the second half where the young girl is shown on her own we have used a filter used tritone, which is a blueish tone over the clip to create that isolation which the character is experiencing.
We downloaded Paddy Sloans song from SoundCloud and imported it into the video, to allow it to play in the background whilst the narrative was unfolding.
